Mount Hawke Skatepark
Mount Hawke is Cornwall’s largest indoor skatepark, set in a 22,000 sq ft. purpose built warehouse. It is split into several different sections and holds everything that you could ever want to skate all under one roof. The bespoke timber ramps are set on a concrete base meaning they grip well and ride smooth.
An additional outdoor concrete plaza was built by Maverick in February 2020.
The main section is found right in the centre and contains something for everyone of all abilities. It is a course made up of hips, a driveways, a volcano, flat banks, a euro gap, a wall ride, ledges, blocks and rails. The obstacles are quite tall here meaning you can get a lot of speed and it is just as much fun backwards as it is forwards.
Next to this is a more BMX focused section that features some large quarterpipes, roll in, jump boxes, a long rhythm section and a massive vert wall.
One of Mount Hawke skatepark’s big attractions is their extensive transitions section ranging from mini’s up to some massive vert ramps with everything in between. At one side there are 4, 5 & 6ft mini ramps and also a larger 8ft midi ramp, but for those daring enough there is also a 13.5ft vert ramp with two 19.5ft extensions. There are very few vert ramps of this size in the UK and draws people from all over to try and conquer it.
There is also a street section here in one corner that holds all of the usual obstacles on a flat base. It features flat banks and quarter pipes at either end and holds ledges, rails, blocks, driveways and hubba in between them.
Mount Hawke is an awesome park containing everything you could ever want and you could lose yourself here amongst the ramps. It is a great place for beginners to come and learn the basics, whether you are transition or street oriented and it is also perfect for more experienced riders wanted to fine tune their skills. Mount Hawke is a must visit skatepark and should be placed highly on your list whether you are in Cornwall or not.
