Watford Derby Road Skatepark

Designed by local young riders, this skate park boasts a 1,300 square metre site with a nice variety of concrete obstacles, on a mixture of concrete and tarmac, to tackle laid out in three main sections.

The main section is back and forth based and consists of two identical walls with a section in the middle. The mirrored walls feature 4 and 5 foot quarters next to each other along side a 6 foot quarter pipe adjacent to a 6 foot drop in flat bank. In between the two outer sections lies a 2 foot roll over in line with the first two quarters, a 2 foot volcano in line with the middle quarter pipe and a 2 foot funbox lined with two large hubbas in line with the flat bank. The ground and obstacles are smooth and have some nice lines.

The other second section features a 1 foot manny pad, a flat square rail and a quarter and half pipe, a nice section for practising small grinds and slides on a smooth concrete grounding.

The final section is not as nice to skate as the others as it has a tarmac grounding, not concrete, however it features a fun box with a 3 and 4 stair set and two flat banks, as well as two thin downwards rail and a curved grind box.

Unfortunately the layout of the park makes it difficult to link up lines between the sections, and the unoriginal layout of the park means that it would only be worth a trip if you are in the area but don’t make a trip especially.
