Tankerton Skatepark (Swalecliffe / Whitstable)

Swalecliffe skatepark is an all concrete skatepark that was opened in 2007 and is positioned in an amazing spot right on the coastline featuring a combination of both transition and street elements.

The skateapark is split into two parts, a bowl and a plaza style street section. The bowl here is a large open one with varying depths and shapes. There is a spine running down the middle of the main section with a volcano pump at the end and there is also a double speed bowl in the back corner with a volcano separating them.

The street plaza section starts off the back of the bowl section and features two raised platforms with two sets of hipped banks and rails coming off them to start the course. Then from the open and flat lower level it leads up another level with flat banks to a ledges, rails a hubba and a taco.

This is a great local skatepark in an amazing spot. The surfaces are smooth and true and the arrangement of obstacles has been done in quite a creative way allowing for long flowing lines around the bowl or plaza. This skatepark should be high up on your list of places to visit if you are in the area.

The skatepark was built by Blekedown Sport and Play, and opened in July 2007 at a cost of £274,000.
