Whitby Skatepark
Whitby skatepark was designed and built by Freestyle, opening in 2008, and it is a small all concrete bowl that can be found next to the coastline.
The bowl is a square shape and has a flat bottom with metal coping aroudn the outside. In the middle is a volcano with a spine joining it up to the edge dividing the bowl into two halves. On the opposite side there is a roll in from the top platform and on one side of that is a small curved extension and the other is a hip sticking out into the bowl.
Whitby bowl is a great local spot, especially if you are a transition skater. For a simple bowl it has been well designed with a creative use of obstacles to vary the area and increase the number of lines available. There are a lot of little bumps and corners to pump around without having to push and the surfaces are smooth making this a place that you should check out if you are in the area.
