The Asylum Skatepark
The Asylum skatepark is a large indoor facility that opened in 2013 and can be found just outside Huthwaite and consists of bespoke wooden ramps that were built by Vision Ramps.
The skatepark is split into two halves down the middle, one side being a street course the other a park/rhythm section. The street course starts on one side with a flat bank that leads into a series of ledges and after these are a flat bank leading up a level with a rail in set. Following this a hubba that leads down another flat bank up to another ledge and rail combo that finishes with a vert wall and a flat bank with rail that leads into the bowl at the back.
The park section here features a series of bowled areas and jump boxes that are in line with each other to form a long line of transitions to flow along. It then finishes with a bowled area that has an open side where the street course finishes. The bowl has an extension along one of the edges and a jump box leading into it.
The Asylum is a great indoor skatepark with with some really nice smooth ramps and a wooden floor that flows seamlessly into them giving a super smooth ride. It has been well designed to allow beginners and experienced skaters be able to use all ramps and still be challenged meaning if you are in the area you should definitely check it out.
