The Canch Skatepark (Worksop)

The Canch skatepark was designed and built by Wheelscape, opening in 2011. It is mainly a street based park with some transition elements thrown into the mix as well, and can be found next to the River Ryton in Worksop.

The skatepark has a raised platform in one corner with hipped bank surrounding it leading down to the lower level. Set onto the flat bank are a hubba that leads up to a small vert wall and a hipped quarter pipe in the other corner, and also a extension and pole jam that lead into a flat, open bowled area. This then leads onto an up and down ledge with adjoining manny pad that is next to a small gap and an unusual banked obstacle with large adjoining manny pad and next to this is a rail. In the back corner there is then a wedge that can be used as a return ramp and finished the course off nicely.

The Canch skatepark is a great local spot with a decent array of obstacles set up in a well designed way. There is a lot of space between the obstacles, giving you a lot of time to adjust between each trick, and the surfaces are smooth and fast meaning that this is a great place for beginners to learn the basics and also more experienced skaters who want to fine tune harder tricks.
