Kaos Skatepark (East Kilbride)
Kaos skatepark was designed and built by Wheelscape, opening in 2014. It is a huge, indoor all concrete skatepark that can be found on the west side of town and is one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
The skatepark is split into 4 sections, the first of which is the fun bowl. It is a large bowl with a spine and adjoining volcano in the middle and various hips & corners inset to the edges. There is also a large over vert in one corner and a huge flat bank in the opposite corner.
The next section to this is the big bowl, this section is more open with a raised bowled edge on the back side that leads into a huge full pipe that is next to a transition up to a small bowled pocket.
On the back side of this is the old school pool with real concrete pool coping and steps in the shallow end leading in. It is made up of two main areas one rectangular and the other being a rounded deeper one.
The final section is the street course that runs up the long side of the warehouse and starts on the back side with a flat bank and a quarter pipe. Following on from this on one side is a raised level that has a mellow flat bank and stair set leading down, and on the other is a driveway with a larger stair set and hubba leading up. Leading down is a hipped bank that also has a rail, hubba and block on top. At the end of the run is a large vert wall and also a flat bank acting as return ramps.
Kaos skatepark is a fantastic facility with literally something for everyone of all abilities and it is unusual in the respect that there aren’t any other indoor concrete skateparks in the UK. The transition sections are large and the surfaces are smooth and fast with corners and bumps in all the right places and the street section holds everything you would need with a nice layout. Whether you are in the area or not you shoudl get yourself down here and check it out.
