Exhibition Park Skatepark

Nestled amongst the trees in Exhibition Park is where you can find this skatepark and it has remained here since 2004. This all concrete park is a great spot and holds everything you could want from a park, both a smooth transitions section and a street secton as well.

The transition section comprises of two bowls which are linked together. The first bowl is a rounder shape with some vert extensions, it is also very wide and deep with a flat bottom. This is linked to a more square bowl with both a spine and also a level bottom for easier access. It is not as deep as the other bowl and doesn’t have any extensions making it less challenging and aimed more at those starting out. These bowls are very big meaning that it gives you time to adjust between tricks but makes it a lot more difficult to pump around and maintain speed. In the side of the second bowl is also a ground level entrance for ease of access.

The entrance to the bowl section leads into the more street / freestyle oriented section which has a contoured bowled edge around three sides which houses a funbox with hips, stair sets, hubbas and banks. The far side of the bowled edge is back to back with a flat bank and leading into the main area is also a hand rail.

This is one of the best free spots in Newcastle and has stood the test of time remaining smooth. The obstacles here are not the most original but the way in which they are arranged is a great use of the available space and provides a base for some nice flowing lines.
