Newsome Skatepark (Huddersfield)

Newsome skatepark is an all concrete park that can be found next to New Laith Hill woods and mainly features transitions but with a few street obstacles thrown into the mix as well.

The skatepark starts on one side with a bowl, the upper platform of which is the start to the street area. The street section here features a series of stair sets with rails, hubbas and ledges leading down via flat banks. Curved around the street section is the large trasitions part, it starts on one side with a bowled area with a flat bottom and metal coping around the edge which opens up into a wider more open section with a long curved bowled edge on one side and a hipped bank on the other.

Newsome skatepark is a great local spot. The street section doesn’t have the best selection of obstacles however the transitions section makes up for it as it is so large and varied. There are a lot of corners and bumps to pump around meaning you down have to push once. Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced skater you should get down here and check it out.
